Representatives of major global energy companies operating in the oil and gas sector in Egypt emphasized the importance of investment incentive packages and stimulating regulatory procedures in supporting and expanding their production activities, and accelerating the pace of field development, during panel discussions within the activities of the Mediterranean Offshore Conference and Exhibition in Alexandria, with the participation of petroleum sector leaders and energy company heads.

Enhancing investor confidence and the business environment

Representatives of Chevron, Apache, Petronas, Dragon Oil, and Schlumberger explained that the petroleum investment environment in Egypt has witnessed remarkable development and significant improvement, praising the extent of the commitment of the concerned authorities to fulfill financial pledges and pay arrears, which addresses the main challenges for investors and enhances their confidence, which is directly reflected in pumping new investments and adopting huge expansion projects for natural gas production.

Egypt's components as a regional energy hub

Participants pointed out that Egypt possesses unique components that qualify it to play a pivotal role as a regional hub for the aggregation and trading of natural gas in the Eastern Mediterranean region, supported by integrated, world-class infrastructure including offshore and onshore liquefied natural gas facilities, extensive pipeline networks, as well as qualified human cadres and accumulated technical expertise that enhance the efficiency of resource utilization.

Industrial growth strategies and digital solutions

Energy companies reviewed their future plans to expand exploration and prospecting activities, increase production rates, and extend the productive life of existing fields in the Western Desert, the Gulf of Suez, and the Mediterranean. The importance of employing digital solutions and artificial intelligence techniques to raise operational efficiency and provide reliable energy supplies that meet the needs of the local market and support various industrial sectors was also highlighted.
