The Italian engineering group Saipem and the Egyptian Drilling Company have concluded a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at exploring available opportunities in the field of offshore drilling within the Egyptian market, as well as expanding the scope of the partnership to include the Middle East and North Africa region in general. This partnership comes within the framework of the Italian company's efforts to strengthen its regional presence and develop prospects for joint work in the offshore energy sector.
Terms of the Agreement and Scope of Joint Cooperation
The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding paving the way for non-exclusive cooperation focused on identifying and implementing new commercial initiatives in the offshore drilling services sector. According to the agreed-upon arrangements, the most appropriate cooperation model will be selected for each opportunity presented, with the study of multiple options including the establishment of joint ventures, alliances, or entering into specific agreements for individual projects.
Follow-up Mechanism and Future Coordination
To ensure continuous follow-up on the developments of the partnership, it was agreed to form a joint coordination committee tasked with monitoring market developments, identifying projects of mutual interest, and setting the next operational steps. The potential scope of cooperation also includes the exchange of experiences and knowledge, providing support in project execution, asset management activities, as well as various training services.
Strengthening Strategic Presence in Egypt and the Region
This step confirms the Italian group's commitment to strengthening its position in Egypt, which is described as a vital strategic market, aiming to exploit new industrial synergies to capture growth opportunities available in the offshore energy sector. This agreement comes at a time when the company continues to strengthen its regional and international business portfolio by concluding several new contracts in global markets.
