President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed that the Egyptian state has put before its eyes since 2014 an integrated strategy to deal with the challenges facing the energy sector, pointing out that the crises the country went through during 2012 and 2013 required radical and sustainable solutions to ensure securing the local market's needs of petroleum products and electricity.
A dialogue session reviewing Egypt's energy journey
The President's remarks came during his participation in a dialogue session entitled "The Egyptian Energy Journey… National Achievements and Future Prospects", which was held within the main activities of the fourth day of the Egypt 2026 Forum. The session witnessed high-level attendance headed by Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, along with the participation of the Ministers of Finance, Electricity and Renewable Energy, and Petroleum and Mineral Resources, as well as an elite group of experts and specialists in the energy sector.
Financing challenges and securing supplies
The President explained that the biggest challenge facing the state's plans to develop the energy sector was not in the technical vision or political will, but focused primarily on the volume and sources of funding necessary to implement major infrastructure projects. The discussion during the session addressed multiple axes concerning the future of the energy sector in Egypt, amidst wide participation from energy experts and heads of companies operating in the gas, electricity, and finance sectors.
Future prospects for the Egyptian energy sector
These events shed light on the major transformations witnessed by Egypt's energy sector over the past years, and ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation between government entities and experts to attract more investments. These discussions reaffirm the state's commitment to moving forward towards building a sustainable energy sector that keeps pace with global standards and meets the aspirations of economic development in the country.
